Exclusive | Two New Faces Emerge in Starbucks China Leadership Team

Starbucks China has undergone significant leadership adjustments. Former Operations Vice President Buay Beng Tan has been reassigned to the newly created role of Vice President, Coffee & Retail Concepts, where he will drive innovative retail experiences. His previous position will be taken over by Sabrina Shen, a seasoned professional with deep expertise in market expansion. Shen will also concurrently serve as the legal representative and chairperson of Starbucks Shanghai.

Simultaneously, the role of Chief Partner Resources Officer (head of human resources) has been assigned to a new face, Christie Mao. The former head, Angel Yu, has entered a "coffee break" after 15 years of service with the company.

These changes are part of Starbucks' broader global leadership restructuring. Under CEO Laxman Narasimhan's "Back to Starbucks" strategy, the company aims to enhance customer experiences by empowering its partners (employees). In the China market, Starbucks continues to advance store expansion into lower-tier cities and operational reforms, such as the "Sail Project," to capture growth opportunities. The refreshed leadership team is expected to inject new momentum into Starbucks' development in China.
