Coca Cola makes a second effort in restructuring

After establishing the "double bottler" model in 2017, Coca Cola made major changes again to its bottling system in China.

By means of equity transfer, the production and operation of the non-aerated beverage business of "Coca Cola Bottler Production Holding Co., Ltd." will be split into Taikoo and COFCO. After the restructuring, there will be 5-6 more bottling plants wholly owned by Taikoo and COFCO.

As "Coca Cola Bottling Holding" is responsible for the overall production of this beverage giant's non-aerated products in China, this will change the production mode of such brands as Minute Maid, Chun Tea House and Costa's ready-to-drink coffee.

Originally, Taikoo and COFCO were only responsible for producing aerated drinks and water. After this transaction, they will acquire the decision-making power of Coca Cola's non-aerated beverage production and do not need to wait for unified supply.

According to Coca Cola, restructuring will optimize production management efficiency, enhance supply chain synergy, and help speed up production deployment and launch of new products, and it will continue to promote the development of the non-aerated beverage business as always. The change will not affect the supply and consumers in markets from place to place.
