Nestlé and Wyeth's infant nutrition businesses will officially merge in the China market on January 1, 2026, forming a unified "Nestlé Nutrition Business" to be led by Joel Seah. Current Wyeth business head Qiu Ye will assist with the transition. This move aims to integrate Wyeth's strong brands, such as Illuma and S-26, with Nestlé's extensive channel advantages to tackle market challenges including declining birth rates and intensifying competition.

Nestlé acquired Wyeth in 2012 but has long maintained an "embedded" strategy in China, operating with two separate teams. As the market environment has undergone significant changes and under the push for organizational simplification and synergies by Nestlé's new global CEO Ulf Mark Schneider, consolidation has become an inevitable choice. The company emphasized that existing brands and business operations will remain unaffected, and Wyeth-related entities will continue serving the Chinese market.
This merger represents a crucial step in Nestlé's global strategic transformation, shifting its growth model from "channel-driven" to "demand-driven" to regain growth momentum and solidify its leading position in China's infant nutrition market. A similar integration has already been completed in the Taiwan market, providing practical experience for the mainland.
